What to Wear to a Boxing or Kickboxing Class (Men)
Share
Boxing and kickboxing classes are some of the hardest, sweatiest workouts you can do. You throw punches, move on your feet, and in kickboxing you kick high. Here is what to wear.
The top: fitted and quick-drying
A loose shirt swings around when you punch and can get tangled with your gloves. A fitted tee stays close and moves with your shoulders. Pick a lightweight synthetic, because cotton soaks up sweat and gets heavy fast.
The KYNOS Performance Tee has an athletic fit and a 160 GSM nylon, polyester and spandex blend that wicks moisture and dries quickly. See the best workout shirts for men.

The bottoms: room to kick and pivot
Boxing is all about footwork, and kickboxing adds high kicks. You need bottoms that stretch in every direction and do not pull tight at the hips or knees.
- Tapered stretch joggers: four-way stretch lets you kick and pivot, and a tapered leg stays clear of your feet during footwork.
- Fitted training shorts: also common, especially in hot gyms.
Skip baggy sweatpants. They get heavy with sweat and can catch your feet.

The KYNOS FlexStride Jogger has 80% nylon, 20% spandex four-way stretch, a tapered straight leg and a mid-rise elastic waistband with a flat drawstring that stays put when you move. See how gym clothes should fit.
Shoes
Boxing classes usually call for flat, light shoes with good grip, or boxing shoes if you train often. Kickboxing and Muay Thai classes are often done barefoot. Ask your gym before your first class.
