Carry-on packed with matching workout sets

What to Pack for Workouts While Traveling (Men)

Work trips and vacations are where training routines go to die. Half the problem is packing: gym clothes take up space, and nobody wants a bag full of sweaty gear. With a little planning, you can keep training on the road without overpacking.

Pack less, choose better

The trick is packing pieces that do more than one job. A tee and joggers that work for a hotel workout and still look clean at the airport or out for coffee save you from packing a separate outfit.

What to pack

  • Two lightweight training tees: wear one, wash one.
  • One pair of stretch joggers: they work for training, travel days and casual wear.
  • Shorts, if it is hot where you are going.
  • Training shoes: one versatile pair. Wear them on the plane to save space.
  • Socks and underwear for each workout, or plan to wash.
  • A small bag to keep sweaty clothes away from clean ones.

Why quick-dry fabric matters on the road

Cotton takes forever to dry, so a sweaty cotton shirt is still damp the next morning. Lightweight synthetic fabrics dry much faster, which means you can rinse them in a hotel sink at night and wear them again the next day.

The KYNOS Performance Tee is a lightweight 160 GSM blend that is quick-drying, and the FlexStride Jogger is a 180 GSM nylon-spandex knit that wicks moisture and dries quickly. Its zip side pockets also keep your phone, keys and hotel key card secure while you move.

How to wash workout clothes in a hotel

  1. Rinse your gear in cool water in the sink with a small amount of soap or shampoo.
  2. Gently squeeze out the water. Do not wring hard.
  3. Roll it in a dry towel and press to soak up extra water.
  4. Hang it to dry over a towel rail or hanger.

Hotel workout options

  • The hotel gym: even a small one usually has a treadmill and dumbbells.
  • Bodyweight in your room: push-ups, squats, lunges and planks need no equipment.
  • A run outside: one of the best ways to see a new city.
